1. Become familiar with ALL of the website content to see if you might be a good fit. We are looking for the 1 in 1,000 who are serious about changing their lives and willing to put in the work to make it happen. If you think this could be you, thoroughly familiarize yourself with our website, including our FAQs. Still interested? Proceed to step 2.
2. Ask your local leader to call in with a reference for you. We do not accept self-referrals and cannot accommodate those in crisis situations due to our specific focus. If you are graduating from a program, in a domestic violence shelter, or are connected with a local church, please have the leader, social worker or pastor who knows you best reach out here, apply@elevatelives.org to schedule a referral and reference call on your behalf. If housing is desired, giving the family size and configuration as well as any information about timing is very helpful for that call. Again, we do not accept self-referrals or sex offenders and cannot accommodate those in crisis situations due to our specific focus.
3. If an invitation to apply is extended you will receive a phone call and be provided with an application link.
4. Applications will be reviewed and those selected for an interview will be contacted within one week of application.
Who is a good fit for Elevate Lives’™ Pathway out of Poverty™?
Our focus is the working poor who are already making a measure of progress, demonstrating to local leaders responsibility and a deep desire to learn and change their lives, both internally and externally. Due to our focus, we are not able to accommodate those in crisis situations.
We are looking for the 1-in-1,000 person or family who has shown to be teachable and ready to go “all in" when it comes to implementing biblically-based principles proven to move them out of poverty and into flourishing. All applicants must be clean and sober for a minimum of 9 months, preferably 1 year before acceptance.
Do you only help single moms?
Nope! We help different types of family configurations; married, single individuals, with, or without kids.
What does the Pathway out of Poverty™ commitment include?
Active engagement in assignments and weekly group equipping, setting and achieving weekly goals, meeting weekly with an Elevate Lives™ trained mentor, meeting monthly with the Pathway Director and participation in a local church.
What if I’m only looking for affordable housing?
We go far beyond being compassionate landlords! All housing is reserved for participants who have been referred to us through local leaders and completed a thorough application and interview process. We are unable to offer housing outside those parameters.
What if I don’t need housing but am interested in participating in the Pathway out of Poverty™?
Great! The need for housing is not a requirement. The application process remains the same.
How do I join the Pathway out of Poverty™?

Can I choose the housing location where I want to live?
Individuals or families are placed in housing with a complex set of considerations. These include family structure, special needs, availability, consideration of other families applying, as well as funding factors. With that being said, sometimes there are options available.
Will I be living with other individuals?
All of our housing is designed to be single person/family dwellings. We would be open to a roommate situation if that was desired and both/all people were approved.
Do you sell the homes you place families in?
All housing is set aside for long term use to help other families on the Pathway out of Poverty™. However, we are able to assist the majority of participants through the entire home buying process, including preferred funding through our Community Connections.
Can I participate in Pathway out of Poverty™ if my spouse is not interested?
It is extremely important that the household is united in taking very practical, measurable steps in moving forward. Therefore, every adult needs to be involved in Pathway out of Poverty™.
Can friends or relatives live with me in the Elevate Lives’™ housing?
Children under the age of 18 are approved during the application and interview process of the parent(s). Any friend or relative over the age of 18 must complete the thorough application and interview process and be approved on their own merit, apart from any relationship with the Elevate Lives’™ participant. Anyone not approved for Pathway out of Poverty™ is not able to live in the Elevate Lives’™ housing. Elevate Lives™ reserves the full right to accept or decline any applicant for Pathway out of Poverty™.
